Active bystander intervention is a key prevention strategy for addressing gender-based violence in higher education and research settings.  \nThis onsite training equips participants with the knowledge\, skills and confidence to recognise gender-based violence and intervene safely and effectively. Drawing on evidence-based approaches and interactive methods\, the session supports participants in understanding their role as bystanders and taking responsible action within their academic and professional environments. The training combines short inputs with group discussion\, scenario-based exercises and role play allowing participants to practice concrete intervention strategies in a supportive and safe learning space.  \nLearning objectives\nBy the end of the training\, participants will be able to:  \n\nIdentify and articulate different forms of gender-based violence\nUnderstand the role\, responsibility and impact of bystanders\nRecognise situations where bystander intervention is appropriate\nApply the 5D intervention model (Distract\, Delegate\, Document\, Delay\, Direct)\, developed by Right To Be \n\nWho is it for?\n\nGender equality officers/focal points/equality and diversity officers\nHuman Resources officers\nOmbudspersons\nGender Equality Plan team members\nHealth and safety officers\nHeads of Department/Unit in charge or involved in policy development on gender-based violence\nStudents \nAnyone working or studying in higher education or research organisations who wishes to act as an active bystander and contribute to the prevention of gender-based violence \n\nThe training is addressed to those at the beginning stages of creating and implementing a policy framework to address gender-based violence in academia.  As seats are limited\, priority will be given to individuals at the initial stages of developing and implementing policy to address gender-based violence within their institution and correspond to the profile of participants. Preference will be given to individuals from countries participating in Horizon Europe\, with special consideration for registrants from ‘Widening countries’ as defined by the European Commission. We kindly ask for your understanding as we strive to include a diverse range of participants.  \nFacilitators\nAna Brandl is the Gender Equality and Diversity Officer at Central European University (Vienna\, Austria) since 2018. Her main responsibility is the design\, implementation\, and monitoring of CEU’s Gender Equality Plans. She has participated in several EU-funded projects on gender in higher education and research\, such as SUPERA (Supporting the Promotion of Equality in Research and Academia) and Gender Equality Academy\, and currently leads the CEU team in GenderSAFE. She holds an Erasmus Mundus Master’s Degree in Women’s and Gender Studies (CEU and University of Oviedo\, 2017) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Psychology (University of Buenos Aires\, 2008).  \nDiana Puerto Michaut is a lawyer and Legal Circle Facilitator in GenderSAFE at Central European University\, where she supports participants in developing and enhancing gender-based violence policies within their institutions. She has also worked extensively as a trainer\, delivering capacity-building sessions on sexual education\, gender identity\, and HIV/AIDS for health practitioners and students. She has further delivered trainings on gender-based violence in academia in both English and Spanish. Building on UniSAFE’s research and the concept of the continuum of violence\, the session examines how cisnormativity and the gender binary shape exposure to violence\, discrimination and exclusion in universities and research organisations.  \nParticipants will gain a deeper understanding of how gender-based violence intersects with multiple identities\, drawing on intersectionality as an analytical tool. Their research focuses on the lived experiences of trans and non-binary people. Based on in-depth interviews with ten non-binary individuals in Japan\, their master’s thesis explored how non-binary people navigate a cisnormative\, binary gendered society. In 2024\, Chisato participated in the GenderSAFE project as an intern\, as part of which they developed this training.  \nAnne Laure Humbert\, PhD\, is a researcher at the University of Gothenburg. Anne is very experienced in gender equality research at national\, EU and international level\, policy analysis and assessment as well as gender statistics. She has participated in several EU-funded projects on gender in higher education and research\, such as SUPERA (Supporting the Promotion of Equality in Research and Academia) and Gender Equality Academy\, and currently she is leading CEU’s efforts in GenderSAFE. Dále se seznámí s konkrétními kroky a funkčními postupy v oblasti prevence a řešení\, které již byly v jiných evropských institucích zavedeny.  \nPřed samotným školením doporučujeme účastnictvu\, aby se seznámilo s relevantními předpisy ve svých institucích. \nCíle školení: \n\nPorozumět pojmům souvisejícím s genderově podmíněným násilím a pochopit jeho dopad v akademickém prostředí. \nSeznámit se s výskytem genderově podmíněného násilí v akademickém prostředí a poukázat na jeho specifické rysy. \nPorozumět tzv. modelu 7P projektu UniSAFE (prevalence\, prevence\, pomoc\, postih\, poskytování služeb\, partnerství a politika)\, který představuje komplexní přístup k řešení genderově podmíněného násilí na vysokoškolských a ve výzkumných  institucích. \nZískat informace o osvědčených a inspirativních postupech při vytváření a zavádění institucionálních politik za účelem řešení genderově podmíněného násilí. \n\nPro koho je školení určeno?\n\nOsobám\, které mají v instituci na starosti agendu rovnosti. \n\n\nPracovníkům a pracovnicím v oblasti lidských zdrojů. \n\n\nTýmům pro realizaci plánu genderové rovnosti. \n\n\nPracovníkům a pracovnicím v oblasti sociálního bezpečí\, kontaktním osobám a ombudsosobám. \n\n\nOsobám\, které jsou odpovědní za agendu řešení genderově podmíněného násilí. \n\n\nŠkolitelkám a školitelům na téma genderově podmíněného násilí v akademickém prostředí. \n\nŠkolení je určeno především těm\, kteří jsou v počáteční fázi vytváření a zavádění opatření pro řešení genderově podmíněného násilí v akademickém prostředí.  Vzhledem k omezenému počtu míst budou upřednostněny právě osoby z institucí v počátečních fázích vytváření a zavádění opatření pro řešení genderově podmíněného násilí v rámci jejich instituce. Přednost budou mít také osoby ze zemí účastnících se programu Horizont Evropa\, přičemž zvláštní pozornost bude věnována přihlášeným ze „zemí s rozšířenou působností“\, jak je definuje Evropská komise. Ha inoltre partecipato\, in qualità di consulente\, al progetto europeo “UniSAFE – Ending Gender-Based Violence in Research-Performing Organisations”.  \nMarina Cacace  \nMarina Cacace\, ricercatrice senior ed esperta di genere presso Knowledge & Innovation\, ha una lunga esperienza di ricerca sulle questioni di genere in diversi ambiti (povertà\, migrazione\, politica\, organizzazioni di ricerca). We also recommend that you watch the recording of the training based on the 7Ps model (available in English with Italian subtitles). \n\n  \nIntroducing the speakers\nEster COIS  \nEster Cois\, PhD in Gender and Family Studies\, is a sociologist at the University of Cagliari. Since 2024\, she’s been President of the National Conference of Equality Bodies of Italian Universities. As a member of the H2020 research project SUPERA\, she contributed to the definition of the first Gender Equality Plan at UNICA in 2020. She also contributed to the definition\, in 2021\, of the official National Guidelines for the drafting of gender equality plans by all Italian universities. She was an expert consultant in the European project “UniSAFE – Ending Gender-Based Violence in Research-Performing Organisations”.  \nMarina CACACE  \nMarina Cacace\, senior researcher and gender expert at Knowledge & Innovation\, has a long record of research on gender issues in different fields (poverty\, migration\, policy\, research organisations). Děkujeme a těšíme se brzy na viděnou. \n      \n  \n[English below] Toto školení se věnuje řešení genderově podmíněného násilí v akademickém prostředí za pomoci tzv. modelu 7P vyvinutého v rámci projektu UniSAFE: prevalence\, prevence\, pomoc\, postih\, poskytování služeb\, partnerství a politiky. Účastnictvo získá přehled o hlavních politických rámcích a prioritách EU zaměřených na řešení genderově podmíněného násilí ve vysokém školství a výzkumu\, seznámí se s konkrétními kroky a inspirativními postupy\, které již byly v jiných evropských institucích zavedeny.  \n  \nPřed samotným školením doporučujeme účastníkům a účastnicím\, aby se seznámili s relevantními politikami ve svých institucích.    \nCíle školení:  \n\nPorozumět pojmům souvisejícím s genderově podmíněným násilím a pochopit jeho dopad v akademickém prostředí. \nSeznámit se s výskytem genderově podmíněného násilí v akademickém prostředí a poukázat na jeho specifické rysy. \nPorozumět tzv. modelu 7P projektu UniSAFE (prevalence\, prevence\, pomoc\, postih\, poskytování služeb\, partnerství a politika)\, který představuje komplexní přístup k řešení genderově podmíněného násilí ve vysokoškolských a výzkumných  institucích. \nZískat informace o osvědčených a inspirativních postupech při vytváření a zavádění institucionálních politik za účelem řešení genderově podmíněného násilí\, které již některé evropské vysoké školy a výzkumné institutce přijaly\, právě za pomoci využití modelu 7P. \n\n  \nPro koho je školení určeno? \n\nOsobám\, které mají v instituci na starosti agendu rovnosti. \nPracovníkům a pracovnicím v oblasti lidských zdrojů. \n\n\nTýmům pro realizaci plánu genderové rovnosti. \nPracovníkům a pracovnicím v oblasti sociálního bezpečí\, kontaktním osobám a ombudsosobám. \nOsobám\, které jsou odpovědní za agendu řešení genderově podmíněného násilí. \nŠkolitelkám a školitelům na téma genderově podmíněného násilí v akademickém prostředí. \n\nŠkolení je určeno především těm\, kteří jsou v počáteční fázi vytváření a zavádění opatření pro řešení genderově podmíněného násilí v akademickém prostředí.  Vzhledem k omezenému počtu míst budou upřednostněny právě osoby z institucí v počátečních fázích vytváření a zavádění opatření pro řešení genderově podmíněného násilí v rámci jejich instituce. Přednost budou mít také osoby ze zemí účastnících se programu Horizont Evropa\, přičemž zvláštní pozornost bude věnována přihlášeným ze „zemí s rozšířenou působností“\, jak je definuje Evropská komise. Děkujeme za pochopení.   \nPředstavení školitelky: \nMgr. Eva Oliva vystudovala etnologii na Filozofické fakultě Univerzity Karlovy. Zabývá se především studiem genderových sociálních rolí a konstrukcí maskulinních identit. Pracuje v Národním kontaktním centru – gender a věda při Sociologickém ústavu Akademie věd ČR jako genderová expertka a lektorka. Ve své práci se zaměřuje na institucionální prevenci a řešení genderově podmíněného násilí v akademickém prostředí a genderové audity ve vysokém školství a výzkumu. \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				  \n  \nThis training [held in Czech] explores the issue of gender-based violence in academia\, focusing on UniSAFE’s 7P model: Prevalence\, Prevention\, Protection\, Prosecution\, Provision of services\, Partnerships\, and Policies. Participants will gain insights into the main EU policy frameworks and priorities aimed at addressing gender-based violence in research and academia\, getting concrete advice and inspired by inspiring practices already implemented in other institutions across the EU.   \n  \nWe encourage participants to familiarise themselves with the institutional policies of their organisations/institutions. \nLearning objectives:\n\nGain a common understanding of concepts related to gender-based violence and understand its impact in academia.\nLearn about the prevalence of gender-based violence in the research field and highlight its specific characteristics.\nUnderstand the 7 Ps model of UniSAFE (Prevalence\, Prevention\, Protection\, Prosecution\, Provision of services\, Partnerships and Policies) which represents a holistic approach to address gender-based violence in higher education institutions and research organisations.\nGet informed about inspiring practices for setting up and implementing institutional policies to address gender-based violence in academia adopted by European and Member States higher education institutions and research organisations within the framework of the 7 Ps.\n\n\nWho is it for?  \n\nGender equality officers/focal points\, equality and/or diversity officers\nHuman resources officers\nGender equality plan implementing teams\nHealth and safety officers\nHead of Departments/Units in charge or involved in gender-based violence\nTrainers on the topic of gender-based violence in academic settings\n\nThe training is addressed to those at the beginning stages of creating and implementing a policy framework to address gender-based violence in academia.  As seats are limited\, priority will be given to individuals at the initial stages of developing and implementing policy to address gender-based violence within their institution and correspond to the profile of participants. Preference will be given to individuals from countries participating in Horizon Europe\, with special consideration for registrants from ‘Widening countries’ as defined by the European Commission. We kindly ask for your understanding as we strive to include a diverse range of participants. \n\nIntroducing the trainer\nMgr. Eva Oliva studied Ethnology at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University. She is mainly engaged in the study of gendered social roles and on the construction of masculine identities. She works at the National Contact Centre for Gender and Science at the Institute of Sociology of the Czech Academy of Sciences as a gender expert and lecturer. Les participant.e.s auront un aperçu des principaux cadres politiques et des priorités de l’UE visant à traiter les violences basées sur le genre dans la recherche et le milieu universitaire\, en obtenant des conseils concrets et en s’inspirant de pratiques déjà mises en œuvre dans d’autres institutions de l’UE.    \n\nNous encourageons les participant .e.s à se familiariser avec les politiques institutionnelles de leur organisation ou institution.   \nObjectifs de la formation : \n\n Acquérir une compréhension commune des concepts liés à la violence fondée sur le genre et comprendre son impact dans le milieu universitaire.\n Chiffrer la prévalence de la violence fondée sur le genre dans le domaine de la recherche et mettre en évidence ses caractéristiques spécifiques.\n Comprendre le modèle des 7P d’UniSAFE (Prévalence\, Prévention\, Protection\, Poursuites\, Prestation de services\, Partenariats et Politiques) qui représente une approche holistique pour lutter contre la violence basée sur le genre dans les établissements d’enseignement supérieur et les organismes de recherche.\n Être informer sur les pratiques inspirantes pour le développement et la mise en œuvre de politiques institutionnelles visant à lutter contre la violence basée sur le genre adoptées par les établissements d’enseignement supérieur et les organismes de recherche européens et des États membres dans le cadre des 7P.\n\nÀ qui s’adresse-t-elle ?  \n\n Chargé.e.s de l’égalité de genre/points focaux\, chargé.e.s de l’égalité et/ou de la diversité\n Personnes en charge des ressources humaines\n Équipes de mise en œuvre du plan d’égalité femmes-hommes\n Personnel dédié à la  santé et la sécurité\n Chef.fe.s de départements/unités en charge ou impliqué.e.s dans la violence basée sur le genre\n rice.s sur le thème de la violence basée sur le genre en milieu universitaire\n\nLa formation s’adresse à ceux et celles qui en sont aux premières étapes de la création et de la mise en œuvre d’un cadre politique pour lutter contre la violence fondée sur le genre dans le milieu universitaire.  Étant donné que les places sont limitées\, la priorité sera accordée aux personnes correspondant à ce profil ainsi qu’aux personnes originaires de pays participant à Horizon Europe\, avec une attention particulière pour les personnes inscrites originaires de « pays en voie d’élargissement » tels que définis par la Commission européenne. Elle est spécialisée dans le développement de méthodologies et d’indicateurs pour mesurer l’égalité de genre. Elle travaille en particulier à l’application de méthodes quantitatives à l’analyse sociale et économique comparative.
