Effective crisis communication management: Navigating gender-based violence in higher education

This webinar, organised in collaboration with sister project AGRIGEP, introduces the UniSAFE Crisis Communication Checklist, a detailed guide for handling crisis communications in the event of gender-based violence cases within higher education institutions getting wide, public attention. Participants will gain insights with tips on how to coordinate communications to internal and external stakeholders, manage media relations effectively, and maintain ongoing transparency and accountability. Guest speakers will share their experience and practical advice on communication response to cases of gender-based violence.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the basic principles and immediate steps of crisis communication in the context of cases gender-based violence.
  • Gain insights into handling internal and external communications during a crisis, ensuring empathy, transparency, and factual reporting.
  • Learn the key elements of message address for internal and external audiences.


Who is it for?  

  • Administrators and communication professionals working in higher education
  • Any staff of research or higher education institutions involved in addressing gender-based violence in their organisations (e.g. Gender Equality officers, Gender Equality committees, task forces or working groups on gender-based violence, human resources personnel and legal advisors, etc.).
