GenderSAFE into its second year!

Feb 28, 2025 | Project news

On 24-25 February, the GenderSAFE consortium gathered for its first progress meeting at the beautiful Czech Academy of Sciences, in Prague. We took stock of the project’s first year of activity, which set the project’s foundations, including the development of an EU baseline on zero-tolerance of gender-based violence, the launch of the project’s community of practice, its first trainings, and a pledge for a zero-tolerance approach. Partners then delved into the work ahead of them for this second year of the project…

Developing GenderSAFE’s Model Policy Framework

A focus of this second year will be on developing GenderSAFE’s Model Policy Framework for addressing gender-based violence with a zero-tolerance approach. The framework is currently being discussed within the different circles in our Community of Practice, who bring in legal and intersectional perspectives, but also from Central and Eastern European regions, national authorities, and from students. The next step is to have the Model Policy Framework tested by institutions, to ensure that it is operational, addresses concrete policy needs, and applicable to a wide array of contexts!

Data collection and assessment methodology

The second set of key outputs planned for 2025 are two data collection and assessment methodologies. These will serve to create a knowledge base on the adoption and details of zero-tolerance policies in the EU at the level of members states and higher education and research institutions. With the implementation of these methodologies, institutions will be able to assess the comprehensiveness of their gender-based violence policy, while EU and national policy-makers will be provided with an overview of the EU policy landscape, allowing mutual learning and policy transfer across the EU.
