Addressing gender-based violence in academia using the 7P framework

5 December 2024, 11:45 – 16:45 CET

Klagenfurt, Austria

co-organised with the AKG – the Working Group for Equal Treatment Issues

Dedicate a day to enhancing your institutional responses to gender-based violence with the GenderSAFE workshop, “Addressing Gender-Based Violence in academia using the 7P framework”. This five-hour session will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding and practical tools to address gender-based violence holistically in their institutions. Following the presentation of the 7P model – Prevalence, Prevention, Protection, Prosecution, Provision of services, Partnerships, and Policies, attendees will learn to develop action plans tailored to their institution’s specific needs. Suitable for gender equality officers, HR personnel and more, this workshop combines presentations with interactive exercises, fostering a collaborative approach to refining and implementing policies addressing gender-based violence. This training promises to be an experience that bridges the gap between knowledge and action.

  • Demonstrate the existence of this phenomenon in research and academia
  • Present the 7P model of UniSAFE (Prevalence, Prevention, Protection, Prosecution, Provision of services, Partnerships and Policies) which represents a holistic approach to address gender-based violence in higher education institutions and research organisations.
  • Share inspiring practices for setting up and implementing institutional policies to address gender-based violence in academia adopted by European higher education institutions and research organisations along the 7 Ps.
  • Enable practical application through a hands-on session where participants develop tailored strategies and action plans to effectively address gender-based violence within their own institution.
